Improving Cross-Border Alliances

Our podcat guest today on Globalocity Radio is Gene Detroyer, joining us from New York. Gene is a recognized thought leader in cross-border alliances and international expansion.

After 17 years of marketing and management in consumer products for global companies, including Mobil and the Van Leer Group, Gene launched several entrepreneurial ventures.  He later sold the companies he created.  For the past 8 years, he's taught entrepreneurship and strategy to international students at the New York campus of the European School of Economics, and at the Paris campus of the Weller International Business School.

In addition to teaching, Gene now also advises foreign companies to help them bring their products to the U.S.   He is also Executive Director of the G2Experience, focused on innovative cultural training and immersion.

In today's podcast, we talk about some of the ways cross-border alliances and other deals frequently fail to live up to expectations, and some things companies can do to improve their odds of success.

Some of the things you’ll learn from today's podcast:

Why the world is inevitably becoming less U.S.-centric
Why cross-cultural sensitivity is becoming ever more important
How assuming things “there” will be like “here” is a recipe for disaster
Why understanding culture is not about reading up on business etiquette
And much, much more!
